Many of my friends and readers have entered this year's Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest, and are anxiously awaiting to see if they are one of the lucky 100 to be selected for the competition, where the grand prize is $1 million! So while you are all awaiting the news, how about a Bake-Off cookbook to keep you occupied? I happen to be extremely fond of this particular book because both my mother, and daughter Kristina, are included in the book. My mom won her category and $10,000 for her "Creamy Broccoli and Wild Rice Soup," which is on page 27; Kristina has a whole profile about her on page 250. Kristina was only 12 years old at the time, and she won $2,000 for her "Raspberry-Filled Apricot Cake." They were the first grandmother-granddaughter to both win money at the same competition, and Kristina still holds the record for the youngest money-winner in Bake-Off history, and the second youngest contestant. I am so proud of them both. It is a great cookbook with more than 350 recipes from decades of the contest, and fun profiles to read about past contestants. Who knows - one of you may be the next person featured in a Bake-Off cookbook!
If you would like to enter the random drawing for this wonderful cookbook, please email me your name and email address to culinarycellar@aol.com by 11:59 pm CST this Friday, April 29th. A name will randomly be drawn over the weekend and I will email the winner. Good luck in the drawing, and if you entered the contest, I hope you get the call saying you are one of the lucky 100 finalists!
