Here are some items I can't wait to try. When my daughter Kristina was in Australia last fall, she picked up these spices and jams, and saved them for stocking stuffers. I am so excited to try these, especially the wattleseed! I have never tasted it before.
Here is my new obsession: The Scanpan!! This pan is wonderful. I have used it daily since Christmas, sometimes several times a day. I love it! There are so many good things to say about it, but go to their website to learn why it's so incredible: http://www.scanpan.com/ This Danish cookware is now available in the USA, but for now, only at Sur la Table stores. If you are lucky enough to have one near you, check out the cookware! Their other pans will be on my wish list all year.
As I was taking down the tree decorations this past weekend, I thought you might like to see another one of my obsessions - foodie ornaments! I have been collecting them for years, and look for new ones all the time. My girls always find great ones on their world travels. Here's just a few:
When my daughter Kara lived in Spain, she found this paella ornament which is one of my favorites! It is made with real rice and even has an itty-bitty recipe for paella attached to it. The ham ornament with all the trimmings is one I found at the old Cost Plus at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco back in the early '70's.

I love all those foodie ornaments. I have a few and try to add a new one each year. I'm hoping to have a small foodie tree in the kitchen next Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI also have to comment on one of your new books - the recipes from the Loveless Cafe in Nashville. We watched a documentary on biscuits over the holiday, and the Loveless was one of the featured biscuit heavens (along with Lynn's Paradise Cafe in Lousiville, one of my very favorite restaurants). I've had biscuits at the Loveless, and I have to agree that they're among the world's best.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Lynn's has a cookbook. There's not one listed on the web site. I wish Lynn would write one. Her food is wonderful, very comforting and downhome with some interesting twists. We occasionally make the trek to Louisville to have breakfast at Lynns, then shop at Whole Foods. That's a breakfast worth driving 100 miles for. Even if the food wasn't so good, the decor is worth a visit. Very 50's kitschy and very colorful.
